Alexandra Boulat Scholarship : “To honor the memory of Alexandra Boulat, who taught  at TPW in these last years, TPW has created a special scholarship. This will consist in the possibility to attend a workshop in Tuscany for free (included room and board – not including travel expenses) and work  under the guidance of  master photographers. It will be offered to a young photojournalist, male or female, under 35 year old. To apply for this scholarship send a CD to: TPW, P.O.Box 931, Bologna Centrale , 40124 Bologna, Italy. Please, send only regular mail, not express courier because the P.O. Alfred & Traffort Klots Artist Residency Program : The Artist Residency Program in Rochefort-en-Terre (France)  invites applications from professional visual artists and writers in all disciplines who are not enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Professional activity and accomplishment must be evidenced by: a superior portfolio of images or written work; an outstanding record of exhibition or publication; noteworthy related activities, including fellowships, awards, other artist residencies, teaching appointments. etc. ; Deadlines “ Applications for 2009 residencies must be received by January 9, 2009. The Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship Award “The Alicia Patterson fellowships are open only to U.S. citizens who are fulltime print journalists, or to non-U.S. citizens who work fulltime for U.S. print publications, either in America or abroad. The aim of the trustees who established the foundation was to improve the quality of U.S. print journalism. Foreign journalists seeking fellowship help may want to consult the annual list of contest and awards compiled by Editor and Publisher magazine in New York City. That issue is published the last week of December each year and can often be found in business libraries. Dorothea Lange – Paul Taylor Prize : “The year 2009 marks the nineteenth anniversary of the Dorothea Lange–Paul Taylor documentary prize, a $20,000 award given annually by the Center for Documentary Studies. First announced a year after the Center’s founding at Duke University, the prize was created to encourage collaboration between documentary writers and photographers in the tradition of the acclaimed photographer Dorothea Lange and writer and social scientist Paul Taylor. In 1941 Lange and Taylor published An American Exodus, a book that renders human experience eloquently in text and images and remains a seminal work in documentary studies. The Lange-Taylor Prize honors their important collaborative work. The Lange-Taylor Prize is offered to a writer and a photographer in the early stages of a documentary project. By encouraging such collaborative efforts, the Center for Documentary Studies supports the documentary process in which writers and photographers work together to record the human story.” Deadline January 31, 2009
